Pieathalon V: Ritz Cracker Mock Apple Pie!

I'm back!  Just in time for Pieathalon!  So happy to be included, as always, especially this year because I was assigned a recipe I've always wanted to try - the Ritz Cracker Mock Apple Pie!

You know the routine - several food bloggers swap pie recipes for each other to make.  The more weird and obscure the better!  Check under the video for links to all of this year's participants.

  2. Nice to see you again! And... bread encased in bread makes something that at least passes for apple pie if you squint? I'd never have thought.

  4. Mock apple pie with crackers predates Ritz Crackers; they just stuck it on their boxes and people began to closely associate it with them. Here's a recipe for it from 1850: https://books.google.com/books?id=9loEAAAAYAAJ&pg=PA153#v=onepage&q&f=false

    But Ritz likes to claim they invented it during the Great Depression, when apples were scarce. Don't trust Nabisco.
